Maltashopper app privacy notice

Last updated: 5 September 2026

This notice explains what the Maltashopper app for iPhone and Android collects, why, and how to remove it. The app is published by Maltashopper Ltd., 162, Cannon Road, Santa Venera SVR 9034, Malta. Everything you do inside the app's shop pages is covered by our main Privacy Policy; this page covers the extra things the app itself does.

What the app collects

  • Push notification token. If you turn notifications on, Apple or Google gives the app a device token. We store it, together with an anonymous installation ID, your app version, phone operating system version and language, so we can send you order updates and, if you opt in, offers.
  • Your customer link. When you sign in to your Maltashopper account inside the app, the app links your phone to your customer account (customer ID, name and email) so order and delivery updates reach the right phone.
  • Cart reference. The app keeps the reference of your current cart so an order placed from that cart can be matched to your phone for delivery updates.
  • Saved list. Products you save with the heart button are stored on your phone and, when notifications are on, on our server so we can tell you about price drops or when an item is back in stock.
  • Notification statistics. Whether a notification was delivered and opened. We use this to stop sending to phones that no longer have the app.
  • Barcode scans. Scans are processed on your phone and used only to look up the product. Your last few scans are kept on the phone for convenience and are never sent to us.

What the app does not do

  • It does not use the camera for anything except reading barcodes, and only while the Scan tab is open.
  • It does not read your contacts, photos, location or other apps.
  • It does not contain third-party advertising trackers.

Who processes this data

  • Apple (Apple Push Notification service) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) deliver notifications.
  • Shopify runs our shop, your customer account and checkout.
  • Cloudflare hosts the small service that stores notification devices and saved lists.
  • CommSlayer powers the Lina chat in the Help tab when you choose to use it.

How long we keep it

Notification devices are removed as soon as the phone reports the app was uninstalled, or when you delete your account. Saved-list items are removed when you remove them or delete your account. Notification statistics are kept for 12 months.

Your choices

  • Turn notifications on or off any time in the Help tab or in your phone's settings.
  • Delete your account and app data from the Help tab (Delete account), or at maltashopper.com/apps/push/delete-account. This removes your notification devices and saved list straight away and asks Shopify to erase your customer account. Order records are kept for accounting as the law requires.
  • For any other privacy request, email forgetme@maltashopper.com.
