A minimalist maximalist home, done right

Some homes thrive on fewer things chosen well, others on many things arranged with care. This bright, pattern-filled space shows how both ideas can live together, with storage that keeps every belonging visible and easy to love.

Choosing less but choosing it well

This home rests on a simple rule: something new only comes in once something old goes out. It is a maximalist space at heart, filled with colour and pattern, yet every piece earns its place. A MICKE desk anchors work near a KYRRE stool, while a NORDEN gateleg table folds away when the room needs to breathe.

Small details carry real weight here. A TERTIAL work lamp bends light exactly where it is needed, and a NYMÅNE work lamp with wireless charging keeps a desk tidy and screen-free of extra cables. A PERJOHAN stool with storage hides away odds and ends, a SAXBORGA storage box with mirror lid doubles as a dressing surface, and KNAGGLIG boxes stack neatly for anything that needs a home but not a shelf.

Storage that lets you see what you own

Plastic containers by the front door make an easy waste-sorting station, wiped clean in seconds and personalised with a few stickers or a small mirror. It is a practical idea for any entrance hall, especially in compact flats where every surface by the door has to earn its keep.

Elsewhere, UTÅKER stackable beds moonlight as low, cushioned sofas during the day, stacked for extra lounging space or separated when guests need somewhere to sleep. An IVAR shelving unit with a foldable table and sliding door keeps books and hobbies in one visible, flexible spot, while KNAGGLIG boxes slot in wherever loose items need corralling. The result is a home where nothing hides in the back of a cupboard, which matters all the more in Malta's smaller apartments and townhouses, where storage has to work hard.
