What if the whole history of the world had taken a different course? What if the great empires of our history never existed? What if different ancient civilizations achieved greatness? What if those civilizations never collapsed, but continued to grow over the centuries? The vanquished could have been the victors, the colonizers could have been the colonised. After all, empires are won and lost with a roll of the dice! In First Empires™, each player takes command of an ancient civilization on the rise. After rolling the dice, players send their explorers across the world to make new conquests to grow and expand. The right combination of dice and occupied regions will allow each nation to develop and improve its civilization leaving its mark on history! First Empires is an asymmetrical strategic game that takes place over the course of 7-8 rounds. The different characteristics of the civilization boards, unique to each civilization (number of dice rolled each turn, number of re-rolls, movement points, cards drawn during the game and number of explorers on the board) are indicated on the progress columns of the civilization boards of the players. As any column's civilization meter advances upwards, both the corresponding characteristic and that player's victory points increase. In order to advance a civilization marker, a player must roll the symbol/color of that column as well as have control of a region on the board with that same symbol/color. Victory points are earned through progress columns, completed milestone cards, and cities captured or kept on the board at the end of the game.
