Product description

Arrakis. Dunes. The Desert Planet. Raise your banners over the endless wasteland that stretches out before you. As the Great Houses of the Landstraad rally their forces and their spies, who will you decide to influence ... or betray? A tyrannical Emperor. The mysterious Bene Gesserit. The shrewd Trade Guild. The ferocious Fremen of the Desert Depths. The power of the Empire may be yours, but there are other means besides war to reclaim it. DUNE: IMPERIUM is a deck building and worker placement game that draws inspiration from elements and characters from the Dune saga, the new Legendary Pictures movie and the best-selling novel series by Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson . The fate of the Empire depends on your choices. Will you seek political allies or will you rely on military might? The strength of the economy or the subtlety of intrigue? A council seal ... or a sharp blade? The cards have been served. The choice is yours. The Empire awaits you. Check out the spice. Control the Universe. Objective: Each player is the leader of one of the great houses of the Landsraad and will have to defeat his rivals in combat, exert political influence and make alliances with the 4 main factions. His successes will be measured in Victory Points. At the end of a round, if any player has reached 10 or more Victory Points or if the Conflict deck is empty, the game ends and whoever has the most Victory Points wins. Deck Building: Each player starts the game with a 10-card deck containing the same cards as the other players. Adding and changing cards from that deck is an essential element in a deck building game. During each round the players acquire new cards and, since they affect many different aspects, each player's deck and strategy will end up differentiating as the game progresses. Agents (Worker Placement): Each player starts the game with 2 Agents (and can get a third during the game). He will send these Agents to the spaces on the board, sometimes gathering resources, sometimes paying for resources to carry on his own. In DUNE: IMPERIUM , Agents and cards are closely linked: a player cannot send an Agent to a space on the board without first playing a card that allows it.
