You have received an invitation to afternoon tea in the Mad Hatter's garden. The table is laden, the biscuits are divinely buttery and the tea has a strong, aromatic flavour. “A little more sugar?” The Mad Hatter asks you with a bizarre look. Yes, thanks... Time out! He interrupts you. Sugar, cookies and millions of hats fly through the air. The tea spills all over the tablecloth while he continues with a smile on his face: It's time to play! In Hats you will have to exchange the cards in your hand with those on the board in order to have, at the end of the game, a collection of cards that can provide the most points. Interaction with the board is the strategic core of a game of Hats. There are various ways to score points at the end of the game. 1. Compare the color of the hats in your collection with those on the board: get the position value for each (e.g. an orange hat is in position 4 you get 4 points for each orange hat you have). 2. Add the value of the cards in your collection of the same color as the card in your hand and subtract the value of the latter. 3. Do you have the cookie in your hand? Get 5 points. 4. Do you have black hats? Get 1 point for each. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins!
